Forests below are young, successional down to developed bottom. Cliff top is heavily trampled, but includes a narrow band of steep Juniper woodland.;Prominent cliff overlooking the Kanawha River, given the name "Red House Rock" for the red hue of iron deposits on the cliff. Cliff is topped by a overhang which keeps most of wall dry and devoid of visable lichen growth. Base of wall is more diverse, but lacks significant cover by macrolichens. Sandstone erodes easily. Clliff characteristics; 12 m tall. 5% ledges, 10% overhangs.
